4 Brunches Worth Waking Up For

Wakey wakey it's brunch time!

Sometimes we wake up with only one thing on the mind: “Where’s the best brunch near me?”.  With Black Cab Coffee in Bromley opening this week, we are all set to spread our coffee, cocktails and belter of a brunch menu into the beyond. So is this the best brunch in town? We certainly hope so and you know where the proof of the pudding is!

It’s time to take a look at 4 of our menu classics to whet your appetite. If you are not a London foodie and can’t make it to Black Cab Coffee at The Glades or Nine Elms, you are sure to find here some culinary inspiration for your kitchen at home instead.

Getting off to a healthy start - Bircher Muesli

Bircher muesli is named after a Swiss doctor, Dr Bircher, who invented the dish. Also known as overnight oats, the idea is that allowing the oats to soak for a minimum of 12 hours overnight makes them more easily digestible. Besides the health benefit, it gives the oats a delicious soft and creamy texture.

The Black Cab coffee recipe uses oatmilk to keep it vegan, but you can use whichever milk you prefer. It also works nicely with apple juice, to either partly or fully substitute the milk. We top it off with fresh fruits, nuts, chia seeds and coconut. Combine this with a morning session on that yoga mat and you’re off to a dangerously good start!

The Black Cab Big Breakfast

Kickstarts to your day don’t come much better than a full English breakfast. Sometimes nothing but sausages, bacon and beans will keep your engine running through those long mornings. Our big breakfast isn’t your average fry-up, it is a classy affair with outdoor-reared pork, free-range eggs, our secret recipe home-made beans, and all the trimmings, scoop it up with freshly baked bread from our kitchen and wash it down with a cup of Brick Lane Blend Coffee for one of the ultimate Black Cab Coffee experiences. Correction: one of the ultimate experiences full stop!

Don’t worry our vegetarian friends! We have you covered with The Protein Power Station which swaps out the meat for grilled halloumi for an equally satisfying and hearty dish.

Now That’s a Sandwich!

It’s not all that easy to wax lyrical about a sandwich. They can be cold, soggy, stale, unsatisfying and downright dull! We turn all this upside down. Starting with our superlative bread making, our sandwiches start with the toughest choice of your day: freshly-baked sourdough or focaccia?!

Still oven warm and giving off that divine freshly baked bread aroma. It doesn’t stop at the bread, we generously fill it with quality ingredients, parma ham & herby mozzarella; bacon, avocado & tomato; grilled vegan cheese & onion; or a personal favourite: sausage, Caramelised Onion & Gruyere Cheese. Wow!

More a meal than a snack, these legendary stuffed slices redefine the concept of what a sandwich should be!

Eggs another way

We do eggs in many ways, or even in your way, but you’re less likely to find our prized dish of shakshuka eggs in your local brunch venue. This spicy morning dish originates in North Africa and The Middle East and is an absolute winner for those who like to get the inner fire burning early on in the day.

In a shakshuka the eggs are cooked over a rich and spicy tomato sauce. The fire of chilli, aromatic cumin and spices offset by the velvety creaminess of the egg yolks will set your taste buds alight.

We hope this little peek at some of our brunch items has got your mouth watering, don’t hesitate to come and brunch out with us, and if boozy brunch with a fizz is your thing, check out our weekend bottomless brunch offering here!
